Heavy loads at sea – shipping a KAMAG transporter to Mexico
In September 2025, O.T.S. ASTRACON coordinated the sea freight transport of a 54-ton KAMAG industrial transporter from Bremerhaven to Veracruz, Mexico. The project illustrates how precise planning, experienced project management, and personal on-site support work together seamlessly to ensure safe and smooth heavy-lift transport.
Project overview
The special transporter, measuring 13.17 x 6.5 x 4.59 meters, was loaded onto the 294-meter-long container ship with a capacity of 4,900 TEU at the end of September. The particular challenge was to lift the 54-ton breakbulk cargo with pinpoint accuracy and position it on the ship. This task required the utmost concentration and technical precision.
Safe loading at the Eurogate Terminal
At the terminal in Bremerhaven, the container gantry crane was specially prepared for the heavy-lift operation. The standard container spreader was replaced with a heavy-lift hook, and then the spreader, slings, and shackles were meticulously assembled. After connecting the sling points, the container gantry lifted the transporter to its maximum height, rotated it in a controlled manner over the ship, and lowered it safely into the hold.
Thanks to close coordination between all parties involved, the entire loading process went smoothly. The cargo was then professionally secured in the ship for the sea voyage.

ASTRACON on site – smooth handling thanks to personal support
An ASTRACON expert was on site throughout the entire loading process to supervise the operation and ensure that everything ran smoothly.
Careful coordination with the terminal, shipping company, and all teams involved meant that every step was precisely coordinated and documented – ensuring maximum safety and quality throughout the entire project.
